Creating Social Impact

The ICCS community stands as a beacon of research excellence and a hub for knowledge-intensive technology projects. These projects have the potential to evolve into high-value business initiatives, whether through the formation of independent startups or by enhancing business development within existing companies.

Established in 2022, the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) is dedicated to maximizing the societal impact of research at ICCS. Acting as a crucial bridge between the Institute and the broader community, the TTO offers a range of services designed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, technology, and expertise. Our primary focus is on identifying ICCS’s commercializable knowledge and technologies, assisting researchers with intellectual property protection, marketing strategies, and the commercialization of their innovations.

Facilitating the path from invention to the market

Dedicated to advancing knowledge development and transfer to generate impactful solutions for societal needs, the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) undertakes a comprehensive range of activities. Our mission is to foster mutually beneficial collaborations between universities, businesses, and the public sector. This primarily involves transferring intellectual property (IP), expertise, best practices, learning, know-how, and skills from academic settings to commercial and public domains.

Activities and Services with an aim to:

  • Highlight the innovative business ideas that arise in ICCS community.
  • Support the researchers of ICCS in the process of exploiting research results (contracts, material transfer agreements, patenting and licensing research results etc).
  • Support to the establishment and operation of spin-offs.
  • Oversee research policies and procedures related to intellectual property licensing, knowledge transfer, academia-industry collaboration.
  • Inform and educate the wider community on issues related to technology transfer, entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property, possibilities for cooperations and financing.
  • Evaluation of the commercial interest in exploiting the knowledge of the technologies and the research results produced within ICCS.
  • Provide consultation services to the researchers, guidance and advice on issues related to the commercial exploitation, business models and
  • Support in the process of establishing and developing start-ups and technology-intensive businesses (incubators), as well as support in the process of including these businesses in the National Register of New Businesses of the same name Limited Company (S.A.).
  • Build and sustain the community’s external relations, supporting public-private partnerships, Information exchange. Mapping the productive sector (industry and SMEs) and Identification of technological demand and needs.
  • Promote and develop Entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer practices.

As a spin-off company, ECC focuses on leveraging research results and expertise generated by universities and other knowledge-producing organizations, both in Greece and internationally.
