Creating Social Impact
ICCS community is a source of research excellence and a pool of knowledge-intensive technology projects that can be transformed into high value-added business initiatives either by creating stand-alone start-ups or fostering business development within existing businesses.
The Technology Transfer office (TTO) was established in 2022 to support the exploitation of research results and new knowledge that is being developed at the Institute of Computers and Communication (ICCS). With an aim to advance our research’s societal impact, the Office today acts as the vital link between the research institution and the community and offers a range of services that facilitate the exchange of knowledge, technology, know-how, skills and expertise. Our core activity is identifying knowledge and technologies at ICCS with commercial potential. We assist researchers in intellectual property protection, marketing strategy development and commercialization of their research results.
TTO Services
Facilitating the path from invention to the market
With a mission to promote knowledge development and transfer that create impactful solutions to meet society’s needs, TTF undertakes a broad range of activities to support mutually beneficial collaborations between universities, businesses and the public sector, mainly referring to the transfer of intellectual property (IP), expertise, best practice, learning, know-how and skills from universities to the commercial and public sectors.
Activities and Services with an aim to:

Highlight the innovative business ideas that arise in ICCS community

Support the researchers of ICCS in the process of exploiting research results (contracts, material transfer agreements, patenting and licensing research results etc)

Support to the establishment and operation of spin-offs

Oversee research policies and procedures related to intellectual property licensing, knowledge transfer, academia-industry collaboration

Inform and educate the wider community on issues related to technology transfer, entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property, possibilities for cooperations and financing

Evaluation of the commercial interest in exploiting the knowledge of the technologies and the research results produced within ICCS

Provide consultation services to the researchers, guidance and advice on issues related to the commercial exploitation, business models and

Support in the process of establishing and developing start-ups and technology-intensive businesses (incubators), as well as support in the process of including these businesses in the National Register of New Businesses of the same name Limited Company (S.A.).

PhosPrint specializes in developing and designing high quality laser print-ing systems suitable for the laser bioprinting of biomaterials including cells, proteins, antibodies and hydrogels. What is considered as PhosPrint’s core competence is the ability to interface the fields of bioprinting, regenerative medicine and personalized diagnostics aiming to provide solutions along the value chain of bioprinted products, which are realized through its laser bioprinter.
CIBOS driving force is technology and business innovation. All its products are based on cutting edge technologies, ranging from AR solutions, that aim to revolutionise logistics and skills training, through to DLT for automotive and the smart mobility sectors.
CIBOS hand-picked products have been dictated by actual business and market needs. In many cases, they were co-designed with private and public actors that wish to invest in such solutions. The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) coordinate the First Energy Competence Center in Greece, a cluster that aims to support and promote innovation, entrepreneurship and technical competencies among enterprises that are operating in the energy sector – a fundamental pillar of the Greek economy.
HECC is a spinoff company targeting to the capitalization of relevant research results and know-how produced by universities or other knowledge-producing public organizations in Greece or abroad. It constitutes a public-private partnership scheme, aiming to bridge the gap between demand and supply of specialized innovation services and technology transfer in the energy sector.
