EIT Digital office in Athens was established in 2024 with the aim to invest in strategic areas to accelerate the market uptake and scaling of research-based digital technologies (deep tech) focusing on Europe’s key societal challenges: Digital Tech, Digital Cities, Digital Industry, Digital Wellbeing, and Digital Finance.
EIT (The European Institute for Technology) Digital, the largest digital innovation ecosystem in Europe, expanded its presence in Athens. ΙCCS is proud to partner with EIT Digital, making an important step towards promoting innovation, education, and entrepreneurship in the country’s digital technological ecosystem.
Building EIT Digital’s local ecosystem in Greece is a pivotal mission for ICCS. This initiative is driven by the recognition of the immense potential and high quality of research within Greek research centers and academia. There is an urgent need to translate this knowledge into tangible benefits for the local market, economy, and society.
The ICCS community stands as a reservoir of research excellence and a hub of knowledge-intensive projects. These projects have the potential to be developed into high-value business initiatives, either through the creation of new start-ups or by driving innovation within existing enterprises.
By coordinating EIT Digital’s presence in Athens, we aim to enhance the global engagement of our national innovation system and foster collaborations that generate socio-economic benefits across the country’s value chain. ICCS plays a crucial role in this effort by contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies and advancing digital solutions. This includes prototyping, testing, and validating innovative ideas, as well as providing essential training and skill development in digital fields. Continuous skill enhancement and a commitment to a learning culture are vital for thriving in the era of digital transformation.
