Implementing the Energy Efficiency First Principle in Regional Planning – REGIO1ST

REGIO1ST, a project co-funded by the EU LIFE programme, aims to raise awareness about the Energy Efficiency First Principle (EE1ST) among regional authorities and their agencies, as well as support them to incorporate this in decisions related to energy planning.

As such, within the framework of this project, the following activities are being implemented a) provision of appropriate support to regional authorities to embed the EE1st principle in their decisions and energy planning, b) establishment of a community of practice for EE1st, in cooperation with the Covenant of Mayors, c) facilitation of the introduction of the principle in national energy and climate plans (NECPs), and d) development of a customized co-creative tool for regions to assist their policy making process. Ten different organisations from nine countries across Europe participate in this project that has a duration of 36 months.
