Maritime surveillance is crucial for achieving maritime situational awareness (MSA) and to effectively prevent, protect, and respond to critical security challenges (e.g., illicit commercial activities, irregular migration, pollution, terrorist attacks). CROSSMARE aims to overcome existing challenges in border and maritime surveillance by introducing a layered maritime surveillance network and an interoperability framework that integrates the space, air, surface, and underwater domains within a comprehensive monitoring picture, enhancing MSA and surveillance capabilities.

To achieve this, a consortium of 17 big industries, SMEs, RTOs, and end-users a) utilize cutting-edge technologies in the context of maritime surveillance: High Altitude Platform Stations; Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems; High-Res SAR Sat imagery; Unmanned Aerial Vehicles; Autonomous Underwater & Unmanned Surface Vehicles; novel Flash LiDAR sensors; as well as legacy surveillance systems, b) apply innovative AI algorithms; Large Language and Visual Models; Advanced multimodal data fusion, c) extend the capabilities of existing C2 and HMIs, also supporting intelligent mission management of manned and unmanned systems, d) and support the interoperability of novel and legacy surveillance systems, improving cross-border and crossagency collaboration.

To this end, CROSSMARE aims to demonstrate interoperable data exchange with CISE and proposes an extension to the current CISE data and service model, enhancing existing and enabling new functionalities. The project will validate the proposed technologies through a series of validation activities: a) continuous integration testing, b) 2 Small Scale Tests (Italy, Lithuania), c) a Table Top Exercise (Romania), and d) a Full Scale Demonstration (Spain) involving real assets, end-users and relevant stakeholders. A Security and Privacy-by-design framework will ensure compliance with fundamental rights, privacy and personal data protection regulations.

The project promotes the implementation of the new Charter for Researchers, drives organisational change in participating institutions, and equips researchers with the cross-sectoral and digital skills demanded by Europe’s evolving labour market — with a particular focus on the Green Deal, digital transition, and deep tech.

LiveBetter advances the EU Renovation Wave Strategy, the revised EPBD, and the NEB initiative by unlocking investments in deep renovations and accelerating their adoption across Europe. To achieve this, LiveBetter will establish the Standardized Common European Digital Buildings Hub, integrating: a) a high-performance, Data Space-compliant data-sharing mechanism for quality assurance in the building sector; b) an arsenal of 15 market-ready, AI-based services.

The LiveBetter Hub will be a dynamic, adaptive digital environment, compliant with the EU BSO, facilitating a secure access to highquality data and services destined for accurate, reliable, dynamic EPCs (CERTIFICATION), digital building inspections (INSPECTION), DT-based performance-vs-comfort building management (PERFORMANCE), renovation planning and financing (RENOVATION) and flexible, DR-ready ready buildings (ACTIVATION). We will leverage and further extend data-driven tools and models from 24 past and ongoing EU-funded projects to be integrated in the LiveBetter Hub.

The services address 6 unique Business Cases, which will betested in 6 End-user Groups, covering all key stakeholders across the building value chain (i.e. building owners, construction companies, financial institutions, occupants, energy utilities, local authorities and academia energy experts). To drive market adoption, LiveBetter will introduce innovative financing schemes, policies, and business models, alongside an engagement and capacity-building strategy. Special focus will be placed on non-tech stakeholders, supported through a Community of Practice (CoP) and Building Clinics. Finally, LiveBetter will leverage synergies with major EU initiatives (e.g. EU BSO, DEEP, Level(s) Framework, EDIH) and the Smart Energy Cluster, ensuring alignment with Europe’s digitalization and energy transition goals.

BLOSSOM will follow already proven co-creation/design processes (including local communities), as well as the adoption and further adjustment of technologies that use data and collective intelligence to perform ex-ante simulation on-going and ex-post assessment in collaborative environments (digital twins and dashboards). By using AI-based tools a draft business model including a visual chart with elements describing the value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and financial elements of each investing scheme will be generated, also identifying the best exploitation form based on the nature of the results and ownership structure (e.g., creation of spin-offs, products producing and selling, licensing of products/services, patenting, etc.).

Once the best business model has been selected, a preliminary Business Plan will be developed with the industrial partners being the main contributors. The bankable solutions will be demonstrated in our Front Runner Cities (Birmingham, Lisbon and Kielce), which will test the methodology and make it available for replication up to the planning stage in the Replicating case studies (Regions of West-Vlaanderen and Alentejo, and cities of Parma and Aarhus.

NURISH (NURturing transformative capacities, Innovation in NBS and Harmonious resilience in rural areas) aims to enhance climate resilience and sustainable development in rural and small urban communities by implementing transformative nature-based, technological and circular economy solutions. It supports the EU’s long-term vision for stronger, connected, resilient, and prosperous rural areas by 2040, contributing to territorial cohesion, innovation, job creation, skills development, better infrastructure and sustainable agriculture.

The project will develop the Regenerative Rural Resilience Framework to help rural areas mitigate climate risks through nature-based solutions (NBS), fostering entrepreneurship and creating green jobs. Resilience Hubs (RHs) in Greece, Cyprus, Finland and the UK will demonstrate tailored NBS to address flooding, water scarcity and land degradation, while digital tools will support real-time monitoring and decision-making.

Communities in the demonstration and replication areas will actively participate in the EU Rural Pact, promoting rural perspectives, fostering collaboration and advancing nature restoration and conservation through NBS. By sharing knowledge and scaling solutions across rural regions, NURISH ensures its strategies are adaptable and replicable throughout Europe, contributing to the EU Green Deal, the Climate Adaptation Strategy and rural prosperity goals by 2040.

The EU-funded project CCAMbassador (Connected, Cooperative and Automated MoBility Assessment & Stakeholder Dedicated and Operational awareness Raising) complements the coordination and alignment efforts of the CCAM Partnership and expands stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing beyond R&I communities to support faster transitions from innovation to implementation.

CCAMbassador assists mobility solution implementers (e.g. infrastructure providers, transport service providers, local/regional authorities) in turning innovations into real service operations by identifying key building blocks for deployment and fostering cross-border collaboration and harmonised approaches. 

The project also promotes and supports widespread adoption of the European Common Evaluation Methodology for CCAM (EU-CEM) and revises the EU-CEM Handbook to reflect the feedback collected from users. It strengthens the EU-wide Knowledge Base on CCAM to better fulfill the expectations and goals of society, and the needs of non-experts, citizens, local and national authorities, researchers and implementation actors.

CCAMbassador is the follow-up Action of the FAME project, which managed and further developed the CCAM Knowledge Base and developed the EU-CEM as part of its European framework for testing on public roads.

CCAMbassador Objectives

• Facilitate consultation and concertation for the CCAM ecosystem by setting up engagement mechanisms to stimulate cooperation, consensus building on R&I needs to support the transition to CCAM operations ​
• Analyse research and deployment initiatives to identify national and international cooperation opportunities, define building blocks for going into operations and identify lessons learnt and harmonization needs for deployment 
• Assess and increase the general public’s awareness and empower implementers, including public authorities and operators, to enable CCAM deployment ​
• Enhance and expand the CCAM Knowledge Base to increase the usability and address the specific needs of key stakeholder groups, raise their awareness and capacity for deploying CCAM ​
• Promote and facilitate the practical use of the EU-CEM in CCAM impact assessment initiatives, assess its relevance for Member States’ use, and update it on the basis of new identified needs and collected feedback​

Roads4All (Co-creating safer Living Roads for all through a holistic, multi-level, participatory approach to cultural transformation) orchestrates a transformative shift in traffic safety culture across Europe through a holistic, multi-level approach targeting individual, organisational, and institutional levels. Conceptualising Living Roads, we co-design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive and tailored set of real-world, theory-informed, context-specific, and culturesensitive road safety interventions in 5 diverse settings.

Our approach centres on continuous engagement with all key stakeholders, ranging from school communities and road users to enterprises and authorities, establishing continuous consultation, collaboration, and feedback. Drawing on evidence-based tools we develop, such as the Roads4All model, framework and decision support toolkit, our interventions leverage both theoretical and empirical insights. We drive change to influence attitudes and promote safe behaviours by innovating with open schooling and Cultural & Creative Arts and experimenting with advanced technologies. We educate, increase awareness building readiness for change, cultivate empathy and co-existence on road, and recommend safe organisational practices. Ultimately, we create guidelines, a roadmap for change and suggest policies towards institutionalisation of traffic safety culture. By integrating strategy and practice, we seek to develop essential values and norms that support a robust traffic safety culture. With a special emphasis on youth, we aim to address high-risk groups and promote long-term behavioural change. Our diverse consortium, consisting of 14 partners from 8 countries, and our consultation structures at national, EU and international levels, bring together a wide range of expertise across EU and beyond, ensuring the replication and sustainability of Roads4All results in various cultural and contextual settings, and paving the way for a traffic cultural transformation that is aligned with targets for climate, health, and more.

MOVEO is a European project that aims to create a scalable Intelligent Framework to improve transport infrastructure and mobility services, making them more efficient, safer, and environmentally sustainable. Supported by technological innovations, the project will be validated through five demonstrators across different EU regions, considering various infrastructure types and conditions. Advancing standardised, scalable, and zero-emission logistics across Europe, the IKIGAI project supports the digital and green transition of freight logistics by developing, piloting, and scaling innovations aligned with the Physical Internet (PI) vision. By promoting standardisation, collaboration, and data-driven strategies, IKIGAI addresses sectoral fragmentation and prepares logistics companies for a future that is connected, competitive, and zero-emission.

Project Objectives:

The IKIGAI project aims to achieve the following key objectives:

• Enable the adoption of the Physical Internet by piloting five scalable Logistics Innovations (LIs) and promoting collaborative, standardised logistics processes across European networks.
• Develop the PI Norm, a set of standard operating procedures designed to foster compliance, digital interoperability, and decarbonisation readiness in freight transport systems.
• Support the Twin Transition by integrating digital tools with environmental strategies to drive the development of clean, connected logistics services.
• Facilitate systemic change through a shared governance structure (the PI Coalition) and targeted engagement with SMEs, industry leaders, and policymakers.

CHORUS (Coordination of Heterogeneous Actors in Mixed Traffic within CCAM) aims to tackle the complexities associated with road safety and efficiency in the transportation system by providing a unified, multi-actor orchestration framework within the Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) ecosystem.

This innovative project leverages the benefits of CCAM technologies while ensuring alignment with EU directives and standards, particularly those focused on sustainability and safety. The initiative will deliver cutting-edge solutions through a multi-layer architectural framework that will be deployed across seven demonstration sites, each selected to reflect diverse urban mobility challenges and opportunities. CHORUS will focus on several key objectives to enhance urban mobility systems. First, it will work to seamlessly integrate diverse transport modes of transportation of people and goods under the co-existence of AVs and conventional vehicles, including public transportation, cycling, and ridesharing services, fostering an efficient, safe, and accessible urban mobility environment.

Second, the project will enable data-driven, AI-enabled traffic management systems that allow for active data exchange in a secure and collaborative environment, supporting real-time decision-making for traffic management and AVs operation, and reducing traffic inefficiencies.

Third, CHORUS will enhance the user experience through personalized travel recommendations and real-time updates, empowering users to make informed transportation choices. Furthermore, the project aims to promote innovation by encouraging collaboration between public and private sectors at both governance and operational levels, driving technological advancements within the CCAM landscape. Lastly, CHORUS will assist cities in effectively reducing traffic congestion and its associated costs while improving overall mobility efficiency, thereby contributing to European sustainability and climate goals.
