INLIFE will provide the solution for an innovative gamification framework, specifically targeting typical and special education and aiming also on facilitating social inclusion. Significant effort will be put in leveraging the potential of the IoT world and in linking IoT, education and modern gaming technologies. Such a framework is necessary in order to increase the adoption of gamification into non-leisure contexts and to boost the creation of new methodologies in education and of course new business opportunities. The challenge INLIFE tackles is to combine technologies from the game industry and the IoT research field, to organize the related resources and to allow the generation of creative and appealing applications to be used in education and for social inclusion. The INLIFE framework will consist of several modules that will take care of agile abstraction methods, model driven developing and transformation technologies and state of the art gaming and human-to-computer interaction techniques. It will enable the bidirectional, real time communication between a game and the surrounding area, bringing the player in the center of the game while living the reality. Two selected serious games will be developed in order to highlight the merits of the INLIFE framework, one related to education on energy efficiency and another on assisting children with autism to learn and thus facilitating their social inclusion. The INLIFE vision will ultimately pave the way for the proliferation of new innovative IoT-based serious games, featuring enhanced and attractive graphics, controls and gameplays and achieving considerably increased success in reaching the posed gamification targets.
